Key Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases.
  • Implement and manage comprehensive database backup, recovery, and replication strategies.
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform advanced query and index optimization.
  • Ensure database security, integrity, and availability through proactive measures and incident response.
  • Perform database upgrades, patching, and migrations to ensure systems are current and secure.
  • Develop and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, and functions to support application development.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize database design and query efficiency.
  • Manage database capacity planning, resource allocation, and storage management.
  • Document database architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Provide expert guidance and support for database-related issues and projects.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Expertise in SQL query optimization, performance tuning, and index management.
  • In-depth knowledge of database backup, recovery, and high availability solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn Availability Groups, Log Shipping).
  • Proficiency in T-SQL scripting and database automation.
  • Experience with database security best practices and data encryption.
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, relational database design, and data modelling.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or relevant SQL Server certifications.
  • Experience with cloud database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS).
  • Familiarity with PowerShell scripting for database administration tasks.
