Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking motivated and diligent individuals to join our dynamic team as Debris Removers for immediate start in the bustling Port Lands area of Toronto. This full-time position requires a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to thrive in a physically demanding, fast-paced outdoor environment. You will be responsible for the collection, sorting, and disposal of various materials, ranging from construction waste like wood, metal, and concrete scraps to general site refuse. Attention to detail is paramount, as you’ll be identifying and segregating materials for recycling or proper waste management, aligning with our commitment to environmental responsibility.

Working closely with site supervisors and other team members, you’ll ensure that designated work areas are consistently clear of obstacles, preventing potential accidents and maintaining optimal workflow. This includes the manual handling and transportation of debris, utilizing wheelbarrows, shovels, and other hand tools. You might also be involved in basic site preparation tasks as needed, demonstrating versatility and a willingness to support overall project objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, sort, and dispose of construction debris and general site refuse.
  • Manually load and unload materials, including lifting and carrying heavy items (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
  • Operate hand tools such as shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows effectively and safely.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas on construction and industrial sites.
  • Segregate materials for recycling and proper waste management according to site protocols.
  • Adhere strictly to all company and site-specific safety regulations and procedures.
  • Assist other site personnel with general labour tasks as required.
  • Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to supervisors immediately.

  • Physical stamina and strength to perform strenuous tasks throughout the day.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar debris removal, construction, or general labourer role (6+ months).
  • Knowledge of waste segregation and recycling practices.
  • Valid G driver’s license with a clean driving record (asset).
  • First Aid and CPR certification (asset).
  • Working at Heights certification (asset).
