Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist to join our thriving dental practice in Birch Cliff Heights, Toronto. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive dental hygiene assessments, including periodontal charting and risk assessments.
  • Provide thorough scaling, root planing, and prophylaxis to remove plaque, calculus, and stains.
  • Administer local anesthetic as required and permitted by scope of practice.
  • Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive agents.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, nutritional counseling, and post-operative care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records within our practice management software.
  • Collaborate effectively with dentists and other dental professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Ensure the sterilization and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols.
  • Stay current with advancements in dental hygiene practices and participate in continuing education.
  • Contribute to a positive and professional clinic environment.

Required Skills

  • Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in good standing with the CDHO (College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario).
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist.
  • Proficiency in performing scaling, root planing, and administering local anesthesia.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong patient education and motivational interviewing abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and adherence to infection control standards.
  • Proficiency with dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Abeldent, Open Dental) and digital radiography.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced periodontal therapies.
  • Familiarity with teledentistry platforms.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Additional certifications in specialized dental hygiene procedures.
