Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental hygiene assessments, including periodontal charting and risk assessments.
- Provide thorough scaling, root planing, and prophylaxis to remove plaque, calculus, and stains.
- Administer local anesthetic as required and permitted by scope of practice.
- Apply fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive agents.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, nutritional counseling, and post-operative care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records within our practice management software.
- Collaborate effectively with dentists and other dental professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
- Ensure the sterilization and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment according to infection control protocols.
- Stay current with advancements in dental hygiene practices and participate in continuing education.
- Contribute to a positive and professional clinic environment.
Required Skills
- Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in good standing with the CDHO (College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario).
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Dental Hygienist.
- Proficiency in performing scaling, root planing, and administering local anesthesia.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong patient education and motivational interviewing abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and adherence to infection control standards.
- Proficiency with dental software (e.g., Dentrix, Abeldent, Open Dental) and digital radiography.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced periodontal therapies.
- Familiarity with teledentistry platforms.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Additional certifications in specialized dental hygiene procedures.
