We are seeking a highly skilled, compassionate, and dedicated Part-Time Dental Hygienist to join a thriving team. Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental hygiene assessments, including medical history review, oral cancer screenings, and periodontal charting.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized dental hygiene care plans for patients of all ages.
- Administer local anesthetic and nitrous oxide sedation competently and safely, within the scope of practice.
- Perform scaling, root planing, debridement, and polishing procedures to remove plaque, calculus, and stains.
- Provide thorough patient education on proper oral hygiene techniques, diet, and preventative measures.
- Take and process high-quality dental radiographs (X-rays) as prescribed by the dentist.
- Apply fluoride and sealants as indicated to prevent dental caries.
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential patient records using clinic software.
- Collaborate effectively with dentists, dental assistants, and administrative staff to ensure optimal patient care.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols, sterilizing instruments and maintaining equipment.
- Monitor and document patient's oral health status, referring to the dentist for further examination or treatment as needed.
Required Skills
- Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO)
- Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid
- Proficiency in administering local anesthesia and nitrous oxide
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach
- Strong clinical skills and knowledge of current dental hygiene principles and practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Dental Hygienist in a private practice setting
- Experience with dental software systems (e.g., Abeldent, Dentrix, Open Dental)
- Additional certifications or training in restorative procedures or periodontal therapy
- Bilingualism (e.g., English and another language relevant to Toronto's diverse population)
