Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients, evaluating dietary needs, preferences, and medical history.
- Develop and implement individualized medical nutrition therapy plans based on current scientific evidence and patient goals.
- Provide one-on-one and group nutrition counseling and education to patients, families, and community members.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of nutrition interventions, making adjustments as necessary to achieve desired health outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition into overall patient care plans.
- Educate patients on therapeutic diets, healthy eating habits, food preparation, and lifestyle modifications to manage various health conditions.
- Document patient care in electronic health records accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to all regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing expertise and insights to patient case discussions.
- Stay current with the latest research, trends, and best practices in nutrition and dietetics through continuing education and professional development.
- Contribute to the development and review of educational materials and programs for both patients and staff.
Required Skills
- Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential, as verified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- Current state licensure or certification as a Dietitian in Kentucky.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Dietitian, preferably in an outpatient or community health setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical nutrition therapy for a wide range of conditions (e.g., diabetes, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, weight management).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex nutritional information clearly and empathetically.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with diverse patient populations and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in conducting nutritional assessments and developing evidence-based care plans.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload while maintaining high standards of patient care.
- Competency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and patient management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Public Health, or a related field.
- Specialty certification (e.g., Certified Diabetes Educator – CDE, Board Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition – CSOC, Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition – CSR).
- Experience in community health programs or public speaking on nutrition-related topics.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) to better serve our diverse patient population.
