Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-year grant strategy aligned with organizational priorities and fundraising goals.
- Identify, research, and evaluate prospective foundation, government, and corporate grant opportunities.
- Lead the entire grant proposal development process, including writing, editing, budgeting, and submission for diverse projects.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with grant officers and program managers at various funding institutions.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to funders, demonstrating impact and adherence to grant agreements.
- Manage a grants calendar, tracking deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with program staff, finance, and leadership to gather necessary information and ensure alignment.
- Oversee the stewardship of grant relationships, fostering long-term partnerships and renewed funding.
- Monitor grant-related trends, regulations, and best practices to inform strategic planning.
- Mentor and potentially supervise grants staff or volunteers, fostering their professional development.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in grant writing and grant management within the non-profit sector.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully securing significant grants from foundations, government agencies, and corporations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and proposals.
- Strong research, analytical, and strategic planning abilities.
- Proficiency in grant management software and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge).
- Expert knowledge of the grant funding landscape and best practices in grantsmanship.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and lead cross-functional projects.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Non-profit Management, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.
- Experience with capital campaigns or large-scale institutional fundraising.
- Knowledge of the Toronto philanthropic landscape and local funding priorities.
- Certification in Fundraising (CFRE) or Grant Professional Certification (GPC).
