Job Description
Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for an exceptional Director of Media Relations – PR to strategically lead our public relations efforts and enhance our corporate image and brand reputation. Based at our offices near the iconic Lamport Stadium, Toronto, this pivotal role demands a visionary leader with a proven track record in developing and executing high-impact media strategies within dynamic environments, ideally within the sports, entertainment, or event management sectors. You will be instrumental in shaping our public narrative, building robust relationships with key media outlets, and managing all facets of our external communications.

You will craft compelling stories, coordinate media interviews, and prepare spokespersons for engagements, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive media relations strategies to elevate brand visibility and manage public perception.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international media contacts, including journalists, editors, and influencers.
- Draft and edit high-quality press releases, media kits, Q&As, speeches, and other communications materials.
- Act as a primary spokesperson for the company or prepare and train internal spokespersons for media engagements.
- Monitor media coverage, analyze PR campaign effectiveness, and report on key performance indicators.
- Proactively identify and capitalize on media opportunities, as well as manage potential crisis communications with swift and strategic responses.
- Collaborate with marketing, social media, and internal communications teams to ensure integrated and consistent messaging.
- Oversee PR agency relationships and manage external resources as needed.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, news cycles, and competitive activities to inform PR strategies.
- Develop and manage the PR budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in public relations or media relations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing impactful PR strategies.
- Extensive network of media contacts and a proven ability to secure high-profile media coverage.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong crisis management capabilities with experience in handling sensitive public issues.
- Proficiency in media monitoring and analytics tools.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., MBA, MA in Communications).
- Experience within the sports, entertainment, or event management industries.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
- Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) or similar professional certification.
- Experience with international media relations.
