Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional and dedicated Director of Patient Care to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all patient care services at our facility, situated in the unique and vibrant community of Ward’s Island, Toronto. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all patient care operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered services.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with provincial and national healthcare standards and regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage nursing and allied health staff, fostering a culture of professional growth, accountability, and compassionate care.
  • Monitor and analyze patient outcomes, quality indicators, and patient satisfaction data to identify areas for improvement and implement effective strategies.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resources, and staffing levels efficiently to optimize service delivery while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with physicians, department heads, and administrative staff to ensure integrated and seamless patient care.
  • Oversee patient complaint resolution processes, ensuring timely and effective responses and implementing preventative measures.
  • Drive continuous quality improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and evidence-based practices in all aspects of patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies and accreditation standards, preparing for and participating in surveys and audits.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated clinical leadership and management experience in a hospital setting.
  • Profound knowledge of patient safety principles and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare regulatory frameworks and accreditation standards.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop diverse teams.
  • Strategic planning and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective budget management and resource allocation skills.
  • Proficiency in healthcare information systems and data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Health Administration (MHA), Nursing (MSN), or Business Administration (MBA).
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or other relevant professional body.
  • Certification in healthcare management, leadership, or quality improvement.
  • Experience in change management and organizational development within a healthcare environment.
  • Previous experience in a senior leadership role within a large hospital or multi-site healthcare system.
