Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking an accomplished and strategic Director of Quality to lead our manufacturing quality initiatives from our Henry Farm, Toronto facility. This critical leadership role is pivotal in shaping and executing our quality vision, ensuring that our products not only meet but exceed the highest industry standards and customer expectations. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader, responsible for overseeing all aspects of our Quality Management System (QMS), driving a culture of continuous improvement, and fostering excellence across all manufacturing operations.
As the Director of Quality, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust quality strategies, policies, and procedures that align with our strategic objectives and regulatory requirements. You will lead, mentor, and empower a team of quality professionals, championing best practices in areas such as supplier quality, in-process quality control, final product inspection, and customer satisfaction. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams to achieve superior quality outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100) and regulatory requirements.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for all quality assurance and quality control functions across manufacturing operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of quality engineers, technicians, and inspectors.
- Establish and monitor key quality metrics (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and ensure product quality targets are met or exceeded.
- Oversee root cause analysis, corrective actions (CAPA), and preventive actions for all quality deviations, ensuring effective resolution and prevention of recurrence.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to integrate quality principles throughout the product lifecycle, from design to delivery.
- Manage supplier quality programs, including audits, performance monitoring, and development to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Lead internal and external quality audits, managing compliance and driving necessary improvements.
- Develop and manage the quality department budget and resource allocation.
- Act as the primary liaison for customer quality concerns, ensuring timely and effective communication and resolution.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in quality management within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing quality teams.
- In-depth knowledge and practical experience with QMS standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100).
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma methodologies, and other continuous improvement tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Superior communication, interpersonal, and presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- ASQ Certifications (e.g., Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)).
- Experience in specific manufacturing sectors such as automotive, aerospace, medical devices, or electronics.
- Experience with advanced quality planning tools (e.g., APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA).
