Key Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centered support to individuals with disabilities, adhering to individual support plans.
  • Assist clients with daily living activities including personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks.
  • Support clients in community integration activities, appointments, recreational outings, and social engagements.
  • Administer medication according to established protocols and maintain accurate records.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies and provide emotional support as needed.
  • Maintain clear and concise documentation of client activities, progress, and incidents.
  • Advocate for client rights and ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed to promote client and staff well-being.

Required Skills

  • Diploma or Certificate in Disability Support, Social Service Work, PSW, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a disability support role.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Reliable and punctual, especially for weekend shifts.
  • Ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and calm.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Experience with non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) or similar training.
  • Valid G Class Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to the Toronto community.
