This pivotal role involves overseeing the daily planning, scheduling, and real-time management of our delivery and transport operations, ensuring efficiency, timeliness, and customer satisfaction.
As a Dispatcher, you will be the central hub of communication, coordinating drivers, vehicles, and deliveries across various routes. You’ll utilise advanced dispatch software to monitor progress, address unforeseen issues, and make critical decisions that keep our operations running smoothly. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule daily delivery routes efficiently, considering traffic, distance, and time constraints.
- Dispatch drivers and vehicles, providing clear instructions and necessary documentation.
- Monitor fleet movements using GPS tracking and dispatch software, ensuring adherence to schedules.
- Respond promptly to driver queries, route changes, breakdowns, and other operational issues.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding delivery updates, delays, or rescheduling.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, vehicle maintenance, and driver logs.
- Collaborate with warehouse and customer service teams to ensure seamless order fulfilment.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant transport regulations and company policies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to enhancing operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a dispatch or transport control role.
- Proficiency with dispatch software and GPS tracking systems.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Leeds and surrounding areas.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
