Job Description
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Dispatcher to join our growing team in Richmond, Sheffield. As a Dispatcher – Delivery & Transport Control, you will be the linchpin of our operational success, responsible for the efficient scheduling, routing, and real-time management of our delivery fleet. This pivotal role involves coordinating drivers, vehicles, and cargo to ensure timely, cost-effective, and safe deliveries, meeting and exceeding customer expectations. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and dispatch delivery routes efficiently, considering factors such as traffic, distance, and delivery timeframes.
- Monitor the progress of deliveries in real-time, communicating updates and potential delays to customers and relevant internal teams.
- Act as the primary point of contact for drivers, providing support, guidance, and instructions throughout their routes.
- Respond promptly and effectively to unforeseen issues such as vehicle breakdowns, accidents, or urgent delivery changes.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including delivery schedules, driver logs, and customer interactions.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff, customer service, and other departments to streamline operations and resolve delivery-related issues.
- Utilise dispatch software and GPS tracking systems to optimise routing and resource allocation.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on delivery performance, efficiency, and incidents.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Dispatcher or in a similar logistics coordination role.
- Excellent geographical knowledge of Sheffield and surrounding areas.
- Proficiency in using dispatch software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of clear and concise interaction.
