Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Dog Trainer to join our dedicated team in Eastern Gap, Toronto. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement individualized and group training programs using positive reinforcement methods.
- Conduct initial assessments of dogs and consult with owners to understand training goals and behavioral issues.
- Teach basic obedience commands (sit, stay, come, heel) and advanced skills.
- Address common behavioral problems such as leash pulling, jumping, barking, and house-training.
- Educate clients on canine learning theory, body language, and effective communication techniques.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback and demonstrations to clients during training sessions.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and training plans.
- Stay updated on the latest scientific research and methodologies in dog training and behavior.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and positive training environment for all dogs and owners.
- Assist with client onboarding, scheduling, and program inquiries.
Required Skills
- Professional Dog Training Certification (e.g., CPDT-KA, KPA-CTP, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in designing and delivering effective dog training programs.
- Expertise in positive reinforcement and force-free training methodologies.
- Strong understanding of canine behavior, learning theory, and breed characteristics.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a caseload of clients effectively.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for animal welfare.
- Physical ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Animal Behavior, Zoology, or a related field.
- Experience with specialized training areas such as agility, therapy dog training, or service dog training.
- Proficiency with client management software.
- First Aid and CPR certification for pets.
