This includes assisting with luggage, hailing taxis or arranging transportation, providing accurate directions to local attractions or hotel facilities, and ensuring the smooth flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic at all times.

This position demands someone with a keen eye for detail, a proactive attitude, and an unwavering commitment to guest satisfaction, operating within a luxurious and dynamic environment. You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of the hotel’s entryway, reporting any maintenance issues, and assisting guests with special requests whenever possible. A Doorman also acts as a visible security presence, discreetly monitoring the entrance for unusual activity and collaborating with the front desk and security teams to ensure a safe and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests and visitors with a warm, welcoming, and professional demeanor.
  • Open hotel doors for arriving and departing guests, providing assistance as needed.
  • Assist guests with luggage handling, loading and unloading from vehicles.
  • Efficiently hail taxis, arrange ride-share services, or coordinate other transportation for guests.
  • Provide accurate directions, recommendations for local attractions, and information about hotel services.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and presentable hotel entrance and lobby area.
  • Monitor the hotel entrance for security purposes, reporting any suspicious activity.
  • Manage the flow of traffic at the hotel entrance, ensuring smooth access for guests and vehicles.
  • Collaborate effectively with the front desk, concierge, valet, and security teams.
  • Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to special requests or inquiries.
  • Assist guests with special needs or accessibility requirements with empathy and care.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in English.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate to heavy luggage (up to 50 lbs).
  • Proactive, observant, and detail-oriented approach to service.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a calm approach under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a hotel, hospitality, or customer service role.
  • Knowledge of the Winnipeg area, including popular attractions, restaurants, and transportation routes.
  • Fluency in additional languages (e.g., French, Tagalog, Punjabi) is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
