Job Description
A Doula – Birth Support at Hiring.zycto provides continuous, non-medical support to birthing individuals and their families throughout pregnancy, labor, and the immediate postpartum period. This pivotal role involves offering unwavering emotional encouragement, practical physical comfort measures, and objective, evidence-based information to empower clients to make informed decisions about their birth experience. You will act as a steadfast advocate for the birthing person’s choices, helping to articulate their preferences to medical staff while fostering an atmosphere of confidence, calm, and respect. We are specifically seeking individuals who possess not only a deep understanding of the physiological and emotional complexities of childbirth but also demonstrate exceptional active listening, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of connecting deeply with diverse families.
As a Doula with Hiring.zycto, you will be instrumental in crafting a positive, respectful, and empowering birth journey. Your responsibilities commence with comprehensive prenatal meetings, where you will establish crucial rapport, discuss expectations, explore various birth preferences, and collaboratively develop a personalized birth plan that aligns with the family’s values. During the intense and transformative phase of labor, your presence will be continuous, offering a range of practical support including therapeutic massage, counter-pressure techniques, suggesting optimal laboring positions, and facilitating effective communication between the birthing person and their medical care team. Postpartum, your empathetic support extends to initial breastfeeding assistance, newborn care guidance, and essential emotional check-ins, ensuring a smoother transition and providing reassurance for the new family in their home environment. Our diverse clientele demands and receives inclusive, respectful, and culturally sensitive care, a cornerstone of our practice.
This contract position demands significant flexibility, profound empathy, and an unwavering commitment to client well-being and autonomy. You will be responsible for managing your own schedule for prenatal and postpartum client meetings and maintaining on-call availability for births as per pre-arranged agreements. Joining Hiring.zycto means becoming an integral part of a forward-thinking community dedicated to innovative and holistic birth support services in the Vancouver area. We firmly believe in fostering continuous learning and professional development, actively supporting our doulas in expanding their knowledge, refining their skills, and staying abreast of the latest evidence in maternal-infant care. If you are deeply passionate about empowering birthing individuals, contributing to positive birth outcomes, and making a tangible, lasting difference in the foundational moments of new families, we wholeheartedly encourage you to apply and contribute your unique talents to our mission of compassionate, informed care.
