Key Responsibilities
- Accurately measure, cut, and install drywall sheets (e.g., gypsum board, green board, blue board) on walls and ceilings.
- Apply mud and tape to seams, ensuring a smooth, seamless finish ready for paint.
- Install corner bead, J-bead, and other specialty trim for a clean, professional look.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by ensuring they are clean, smooth, level, and free of imperfections.
- Identify and correct any deficiencies, imperfections, or structural issues in installed drywall.
- Work efficiently to meet project deadlines and maintain high productivity targets under piece-work structure.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and construction best practices.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper disposal of debris and materials.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine layout, installation procedures, and material requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with other trades, project management, and site supervisors to ensure seamless project execution.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in all aspects of drywall installation, including measuring, cutting, hanging, taping, and mudding.
- Proficiency with relevant tools and equipment, such as drywall stilts, power saws, drills, automatic tapers, and sanding tools.
- Strong understanding of various drywall types, their specific applications, and appropriate installation techniques.
- Exceptional hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and manual dexterity.
- Physical ability to work at heights, in various weather conditions, and lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs consistently).
- Meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality, flawless finishes.
- Strong time management, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also integrating effectively as part of a larger construction team.
- Clear communication skills and fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal certification or completion of an apprenticeship in drywall finishing or a related construction trade.
- Valid G-class driver's license and reliable personal transportation to various job sites.
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour construction safety certification, or equivalent provincial safety training.
- Prior experience with advanced decorative drywall finishes, curved walls, or acoustical ceiling installations.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
