Job Description

Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a talented and meticulous Editor to join our vibrant Media & Publishing team in Longsight, Manchester. Your day-to-day will involve a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of grammar and style, and an innate ability to elevate raw content into polished, engaging pieces. Key Responsibilities

  • Edit, proofread, and fact-check a variety of content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and accuracy.
  • Ensure all content adheres to established brand guidelines, tone of voice, and editorial standards.
  • Collaborate with writers, authors, and content creators to refine and improve drafts, providing constructive feedback.
  • Manage editorial calendars and content workflows to meet strict deadlines.
  • Develop and implement content strategies in alignment with publishing objectives.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, best practices, and new technologies in media and publishing.
  • Optimize content for different platforms (print, digital, social media) to maximize engagement and reach.
  • Assist in the recruitment and management of freelance writers and contributors as needed.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions and content planning meetings.
  • Maintain consistency in messaging and quality across all published materials.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Editor in media or publishing (minimum 4 years).
  • Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Demonstrable ability to edit and refine complex content for clarity and impact.
  • Strong understanding of editorial best practices and style guides (e.g., AP, Chicago).
  • Proficiency in content management systems (CMS) and project management tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide diplomatic feedback.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience with SEO principles and content optimization for digital platforms.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, Photoshop) for basic layout understanding.
  • Experience managing a team of writers or junior editors.
