Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement electrical systems, components, and equipment, with a specific focus on power distribution and control.
- Conduct detailed analysis, fault finding, and troubleshooting of electrical power systems to identify root causes of failures.
- Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for electrical infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
- Perform regular inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical installations, including transformers, switchgear, generators, and motor control centers.
- Prepare technical specifications, reports, and documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations).
- Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
- Manage and oversee contractors during installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, regulations, and best practices in electrical engineering, particularly in power systems and renewable energy.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations in all electrical operations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in power system design, analysis, and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
- Experience with fault analysis and protection schemes for power systems.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Power Systems Engineering or a related specialization.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or actively working towards it.
- Experience with SCADA systems and PLCs for industrial control.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems integration (solar, wind).
- Familiarity with power system simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
- Project management experience in an engineering environment.
