Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with a strong focus on Power Systems and Maintenance to join our dynamic team in Portobello, Edinburgh. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement electrical systems, components, and equipment, with a specific focus on power distribution and control.
  • Conduct detailed analysis, fault finding, and troubleshooting of electrical power systems to identify root causes of failures.
  • Develop and execute preventative and predictive maintenance strategies for electrical infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
  • Perform regular inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical installations, including transformers, switchgear, generators, and motor control centers.
  • Prepare technical specifications, reports, and documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations).
  • Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Manage and oversee contractors during installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies, regulations, and best practices in electrical engineering, particularly in power systems and renewable energy.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations in all electrical operations.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in power system design, analysis, and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
  • Experience with fault analysis and protection schemes for power systems.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Power Systems Engineering or a related specialization.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or actively working towards it.
  • Experience with SCADA systems and PLCs for industrial control.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy systems integration (solar, wind).
  • Familiarity with power system simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
  • Project management experience in an engineering environment.
