Key Responsibilities
- Perform rapid and comprehensive patient assessments, including triage, vital signs, and patient history.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor patients' conditions, interpret diagnostic tests, and document all observations and interventions.
- Initiate and manage life support measures during medical emergencies, including CPR and advanced cardiac life support.
- Provide compassionate patient and family education regarding conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment used in emergency settings.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment within the Emergency Department.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
- Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ontario (CNO in good standing)
- Minimum of 4 years of recent experience in an Emergency Department setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to perform rapid patient assessments and interventions
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
- Experience with precepting or mentoring junior staff
- Additional specialty certifications relevant to emergency care
