Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Consultant – Professional to join our growing team in Westboro, Ottawa. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in environmental assessment, regulatory compliance, and project management to contribute to a diverse range of projects across various sectors. As a key member of our consulting team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality environmental services to our clients, ensuring projects are executed with integrity, scientific rigor, and adherence to all applicable provincial and federal regulations.
Your expertise will be crucial in guiding clients through complex environmental challenges, from initial site investigations and impact assessments to remediation strategies and permitting processes. You will be responsible for preparing detailed technical reports, conducting site visits, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and liaising directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage environmental assessment projects, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Detailed Quantitative Risk Assessments (DQRAs).
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and regulatory submissions in compliance with provincial and federal guidelines (e.g., O. Reg. 153/04, CEAA 2012).
- Conduct site investigations, fieldwork, and data collection, including soil, groundwater, and air sampling.
- Interpret complex environmental data, conduct impact analyses, and develop pragmatic recommendations for clients.
- Provide expert advice to clients on environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and compliance strategies.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
- Mentor junior staff, providing guidance on technical aspects, project methodologies, and professional development.
- Foster strong client relationships, identify new business opportunities, and contribute to business development initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, contractors, and other consultants.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting.
- Demonstrated experience with Ontario Regulation 153/04 and other provincial/federal environmental legislation.
- Proven track record in managing and delivering Phase I/II ESAs and risk assessments.
- Strong technical report writing and proposal development skills.
- Excellent project management capabilities, including budgeting and scheduling.
- Proficiency in environmental data analysis and interpretation.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Professional designation (P.Eng., P.Geo., C.Chem., or similar) is highly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- Experience with contaminated site remediation and brownfield redevelopment projects.
- Familiarity with GIS software for environmental mapping and analysis.
- Experience in client relationship management and business development.
- Health and Safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid).
