Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Environmental Health and Safety Manager – Professional to join our growing team in Cityview, Toronto. This pivotal role involves leading the development, implementation, and oversight of all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives across our operations. As an EHS Manager, you will be instrumental in cultivating a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement in our EHS performance.
Your expertise will guide our organization in minimizing workplace risks, preventing incidents, and promoting environmental stewardship. You will be responsible for interpreting complex EHS regulations and translating them into actionable policies and procedures that are understood and followed by all employees. This role demands a professional with a comprehensive understanding of EHS best practices, a proven track record in EHS management systems, and the ability to inspire a commitment to safety and environmental responsibility at all levels of the organization.
The successful candidate will act as a key advisor to leadership, managers, and employees on all EHS matters, providing expert guidance and support. You will lead incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions. Furthermore, you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging EHS training programs, conducting regular site inspections and audits, and managing all EHS-related documentation and reporting. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and programs in alignment with regulatory requirements and company objectives.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with EHS standards and regulations.
- Lead and manage all aspects of incident investigation, including root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and follow-up to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial (Ontario), and municipal EHS legislation, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Develop and deliver engaging EHS training programs for employees at all levels, covering topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, and safe work procedures.
- Manage environmental programs including waste management, hazardous materials handling, air emissions, and wastewater discharge permits.
- Collaborate with departmental managers, supervisors, and employees to foster a strong EHS culture and promote proactive safety behaviors.
- Prepare and submit all required EHS reports to internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.
- Maintain and continuously improve the company's EHS management system (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Monitor EHS performance metrics, analyze trends, and recommend strategic improvements.
Required Skills
- Expert knowledge of federal and provincial (Ontario) EHS legislation and regulations.
- Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing EHS programs and management systems (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Strong ability to conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and training delivery skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing abilities with a focus on fostering a positive safety culture.
- Proficiency in EHS software and data management.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent.
- Certification in Hazardous Materials Management or Environmental Management.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
