As an Environmental Scientist – Consultant, you will be instrumental in guiding clients through complex environmental regulations, assessments, and remediation projects. Your work will involve a comprehensive blend of desk-based research, field investigations, data analysis, and technical report writing. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with CSA standards and provincial regulations.
- Develop and implement remediation strategies for contaminated sites, including supervising field activities and monitoring programs.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and environmental management plans for submission to clients and regulatory agencies.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources efficiently to ensure successful project delivery.
- Interpret complex environmental data, regulations, and guidelines to provide expert advice and recommendations to clients.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, sub-consultants, and regulatory bodies (e.g., MECP, TSSA) to ensure project objectives are met.
- Participate in business development activities, including proposal writing and client relationship management.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in environmental consulting, specifically with ESAs and remediation projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Ontario environmental regulations (e.g., O.Reg. 153/04).
- Strong technical writing skills for report generation and proposal development.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Valid G Class driver’s license and access to a vehicle for site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
- Professional designation (P.Geo., P.Eng., or EP).
- Experience with due diligence, risk assessment, and hazardous building materials surveys.
- Familiarity with GIS software for mapping and data visualization.
