Job Description

As an Event Decorator – Venue Setup & Styling, you will be a pivotal player in our creative team, responsible for the meticulous planning, preparation, and execution of stunning decor for a diverse range of events. From intimate weddings and sophisticated corporate galas to large-scale public celebrations and brand activations, each project presents a unique challenge and an exciting opportunity to showcase your artistic flair and technical precision.

You’ll begin by collaborating closely with our design team and clients to understand their aesthetic preferences, themes, and overall objectives. This involves interpreting design briefs, sketching concepts, and helping to select appropriate materials, color schemes, lighting elements, floral arrangements, and furniture pieces that align with the event’s identity and budget. Your keen eye for detail will be crucial in translating abstract ideas into tangible, beautiful setups.

A significant portion of your role will involve hands-on work. You’ll be responsible for the logistical coordination of decor items, ensuring timely delivery, inventory management, and careful handling. On event days, you’ll lead or assist with the physical setup and styling of venues across Redland, Bristol, and surrounding areas. This includes everything from arranging linens and centerpieces to installing backdrops, draping fabrics, setting up lighting fixtures, and ensuring every element is perfectly positioned and presented. You’ll work efficiently under pressure, troubleshoot unforeseen challenges with a calm demeanor, and maintain the highest standards of presentation from start to finish.

Beyond the aesthetic, safety and structural integrity are paramount. You will ensure all decorations are securely installed, compliant with venue regulations, and present no hazards. After events, you’ll also be involved in the careful dismantling, packing, and transportation of decor items, maintaining their condition for future use. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and design team to understand event vision, themes, and specific decor requirements.
  • Develop and present decor concepts, mood boards, and detailed setup plans.
  • Source, select, and manage inventory of decor items, including linens, furniture, lighting, and props.
  • Lead or assist with the physical setup and styling of event venues, ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
  • Install backdrops, drapes, floral arrangements, lighting, and other decorative elements securely and aesthetically.
  • Oversee the proper care, maintenance, and handling of all decor items before, during, and after events.
  • Manage on-site decor adjustments and troubleshoot any issues that arise during setup or event hours.
  • Ensure all installations comply with venue safety regulations and company standards.
  • Supervise the dismantling, packing, and transportation of decor items post-event.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace and storage area.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Event Decorator, Stylist, or similar role.
  • Strong aesthetic sense and creative vision with an eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in various decor techniques and materials (e.g., draping, lighting, floral arrangements).
  • Ability to interpret design briefs and translate them into tangible setups.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy decor items.
  • Valid UK driving license and access to reliable transport for travel to various event locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Event Management, Interior Design, or a related creative field.
  • Experience with CAD software or digital rendering for event layouts.
  • Portfolio showcasing previous event decor projects.
  • Knowledge of local suppliers and vendor networks in the Bristol area.
  • First Aid certification.
