Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a talented and highly motivated Event Decorator to join our dedicated team in Whinmoor, Leeds. This pivotal role involves bringing our clients’ visions to life through exquisite venue setup and styling, ensuring every event is visually stunning and unforgettable. As an Event Decorator, you will be instrumental in the entire creative process, from initial concept development and design proposal to hands-on execution and flawless teardown. We are looking for an individual with an exceptional eye for detail, a passion for aesthetic design, and the practical skills to implement complex decorative schemes.

Your responsibilities will span across various stages of event production. You’ll collaborate closely with clients to understand their themes, preferences, and budgets, translating abstract ideas into tangible, beautiful realities. This will include creating detailed mood boards, sourcing appropriate decor elements, managing inventory, and ensuring all items meet our high standards of quality. On event days, you will lead the setup of venues, meticulously arranging floral displays, lighting, drapery, furniture, and props to achieve the desired ambiance. This role demands not only artistic flair but also strong organisational skills, physical stamina, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure to meet tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their vision, themes, and budgetary requirements for event decor.
  • Develop creative design concepts, mood boards, and detailed proposals for various events.
  • Source and procure decorative elements including florals, lighting, linens, furniture, props, and signage.
  • Manage event decor inventory, ensuring items are well-maintained, organised, and readily available.
  • Execute on-site venue setup and styling, including installation of drapery, backdrops, centrepieces, and lighting.
  • Oversee the proper dismantling and removal of all decorative elements post-event.
  • Coordinate with other event vendors (caterers, florists, AV technicians) to ensure seamless integration of decor.
  • Maintain strict adherence to health and safety regulations during setup and teardown.
  • Provide exceptional client service throughout the design and execution process.
  • Stay updated on current event decor trends and innovative styling techniques.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in event decorating, styling, or visual merchandising.
  • Exceptional creativity and a strong eye for aesthetic design and detail.
  • Proficiency in creating mood boards and design proposals.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift and move decorative items.
  • Full UK driving license and access to reliable transport.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Event Management, Interior Design, Fine Arts, or a related creative field.
  • Experience with CAD software or 3D rendering for event layouts.
  • Portfolio showcasing previous event decorating work.
  • Knowledge of local suppliers and venues in the Leeds area.
  • First Aid certification.
