Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas to detect and deter unauthorized activities, disturbances, or safety hazards.
- Monitor entry and exit points, controlling access for attendees, staff, and authorized personnel.
- Conduct bag checks and implement security screening procedures as required.
- Respond promptly and effectively to incidents, emergencies, and security breaches, escalating situations to supervisors when necessary.
- Maintain crowd control and ensure orderly movement of event participants.
- Provide clear and helpful directions and information to event attendees.
- Collaborate closely with event organizers, emergency services, and fellow security personnel.
- Complete detailed incident reports and daily logs accurately and timely.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, procedures, and relevant security regulations.
- Operate security equipment such as radios, metal detectors, and surveillance systems as needed.
Required Skills
- Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certification (Level C)
- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure
- Physical fitness to stand, walk, and occasionally lift for extended periods
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Fluency in English (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in event security, retail security, or a similar customer-facing security role
- Demonstrated experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques
- Knowledge of local security protocols and emergency procedures for events
- Proficiency in additional languages is an asset
