As a vital member of our Event Setup Crew, you will be instrumental in the physical preparation, execution, and dismantling of various event spaces. Your comprehensive tasks will encompass everything from carefully moving and arranging a wide array of furniture, chairs, and tables, to precisely setting up staging elements, lighting fixtures, and essential audio-visual equipment. You will also be responsible for laying out carpets, setting up decorative elements, signage, and ensuring all event aesthetics align with client specifications. The role demands not just physical capability but also keen attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work efficiently and safely under varying timelines and pressures. Key Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and transport event equipment, furniture, and materials safely and efficiently.
  • Set up and dismantle tables, chairs, staging, pipe and drape, and other event fixtures according to detailed layouts and client specifications.
  • Assist with the installation of audio-visual equipment, lighting, sound systems, and decorative elements.
  • Ensure all equipment is handled with care, properly positioned, and securely assembled.
  • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with the event management team and other crew members to meet strict setup and teardown deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the event preparation and dismantling phases.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company guidelines, and venue regulations.
  • Perform basic maintenance or troubleshooting of equipment as needed and report any malfunctions.
  • Provide excellent on-site support, responding quickly to unexpected needs or changes.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow complex instructions and diagrams.
  • Exceptional punctuality and reliability, as event timelines are critical.
  • Basic understanding of tools and equipment setup, with a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in event setup, warehousing, general labor, or a related physically demanding role.
  • Valid G driver's license with a clean driving record (an asset, particularly for transportation duties).
  • Forklift certification or experience operating other heavy machinery (an asset for larger scale events).
  • First Aid and/or CPR certification.
  • Availability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
