Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Full-Time Excavator Operator to join our dynamic team, primarily based within the stunning Golden Ears Provincial Park in Maple Ridge, BC. This pivotal role involves operating various sizes of excavators and other heavy equipment to execute a diverse range of projects critical to the park’s infrastructure and environmental management. You will be instrumental in tasks such as trail development and maintenance, drainage system installation and repair, erosion control, site preparation for new facilities, and general land shaping activities that support the park’s ecological health and visitor experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment (e.g., skid steers, loaders) safely and efficiently for various tasks.
- Perform site preparation, grading, trenching, digging, backfilling, and material handling.
- Execute earthmoving tasks for trail construction, drainage system installation, and erosion control projects.
- Conduct pre-operational checks, routine inspections, and basic maintenance on equipment.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, operational procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and work orders to ensure accurate project execution.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other park staff.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure equipment is properly secured after use.
- Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
- Assist with manual labor tasks when heavy equipment is not required or available.
Required Skills
- Proven experience operating excavators (various sizes) in diverse terrains.
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment operation safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
- Excellent spatial awareness and coordination.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment, often in varying weather conditions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Heavy Equipment Operator certification from a recognized institution.
- Experience with other heavy equipment (e.g., bulldozers, loaders, skid steers).
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting minor equipment issues.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of environmental best practices in a park or natural setting.
