Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment to identify maintenance needs.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks across various areas (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, painting, basic electrical).
  • Assist skilled technicians with more complex maintenance projects and installations.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot basic issues across the facility.
  • Ensure all facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained according to company standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Manage and organise maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies, including inventory management.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialised repairs and services, ensuring quality and timely completion.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using relevant systems.
  • Support in the setup and clear-down of meeting rooms, event spaces, and office reconfigurations.
  • Assist with building security procedures, including opening and closing premises as required.
  • Contribute to waste management and recycling initiatives to promote environmental sustainability.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a facilities, maintenance, or trades assistant role.
  • Basic understanding of general maintenance procedures (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting).
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with staff and contractors.
  • Proficiency in using basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to facilities management.
  • Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Facilities Services, Property Maintenance, or a related vocational field.
  • Relevant health and safety certifications (e.g., IOSH Working Safely, Manual Handling).
  • Experience with a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Previous experience working in a commercial, corporate, or industrial environment.
