Key Responsibilities
- Represent clients in all family law matters, including divorce, separation, child custody, access, support, and property division.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents such as separation agreements, cohabitation agreements, and court orders.
- Prepare and present cases effectively in court, mediation, and arbitration settings.
- Provide clear, concise, and empathetic legal advice to clients, guiding them through complex legal processes.
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop sound legal strategies.
- Manage a full caseload independently, ensuring timely and efficient progression of files.
- Maintain meticulous records and client communications in accordance with professional standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to deliver comprehensive client services.
- Stay abreast of developments in family law legislation and case precedents.
Required Skills
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) or LL.B. degree from an accredited law school.
- Active and in good standing membership with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Minimum of 4 years of post-call experience practicing family law in Ontario.
- Demonstrated expertise in all facets of family law litigation and negotiation.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proven ability to manage a demanding caseload with efficiency and attention to detail.
- Client-focused approach with a high degree of empathy and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with alternative dispute resolution methods, including collaborative law.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a significant asset.
- Established network within the legal community or existing referral sources.
