Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor annual and project-specific budgets across various departments.
- Conduct regular budget vs. actual analysis, identify significant variances, and provide detailed explanations and recommendations for corrective actions.
- Perform comprehensive reconciliations of various accounts, including bank statements, balance sheet accounts, and intercompany transactions, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, statements, and forecasts for internal management and external stakeholders.
- Ensure strict compliance with all internal financial policies, procedures, and relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, UK GAAP).
- Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation, schedules, and explanations to auditors.
- Collaborate effectively with department heads to manage financial resources, providing financial advice and supporting strategic initiatives.
- Process invoices, expense claims, and efficiently manage accounts payable/receivable cycles to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within financial operations, implementing best practices.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial regulations and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in budgeting, financial analysis, and accounts reconciliation.
- Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Xero) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modelling).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a meticulous attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly, concisely, and effectively to non-finance professionals.
- Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ICAS part-qualified or qualified) or working towards one.
- Experience with financial modelling and forecasting techniques.
- Knowledge of UK tax regulations and compliance.
- Previous experience in a similar role within the financial services or a related industry sector.
