Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and strategic Financial Controller to join our executive team in Caulfeild, West Vancouver. This is a critical leadership role that demands a seasoned professional capable of overseeing all financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and contributing significantly to our strategic planning and execution. As our Financial Controller, you will be instrumental in guiding the company’s financial health and growth, acting as a trusted advisor to senior management on all fiscal matters.
In this pivotal position, you will be responsible for the comprehensive management of accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. You will lead the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with ASPE/IFRS, manage annual budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensure strict compliance with all local, provincial, and federal regulatory requirements and tax filings. Beyond traditional accounting, your role will involve sophisticated financial analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to inform business decisions and drive operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
- Manage the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts, and report on variances.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with ASPE/IFRS.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting, ensuring adherence to all government requirements.
- Manage and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Collaborate with auditors during year-end audit processes, ensuring all documentation is prepared and questions are addressed promptly.
Required Skills
- CPA designation (CA, CGA, CMA) in good standing.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, with at least 3 years as a Financial Controller or similar leadership position.
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian accounting principles and procedures (ASPE/IFRS).
- Proven experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Enterprise, Sage 300, Microsoft Dynamics) and ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities, with a focus on staff development.

- Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
