As a Fire Alarm Technician Helper, you’ll be an integral part of our field service team, learning the foundational elements of fire alarm systems. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with their hands, is comfortable with heights, and thrives in a dynamic environment where no two days are exactly alike. You’ll work closely with experienced technicians, absorbing knowledge about system components, wiring schematics, troubleshooting techniques, and the latest industry standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior Fire Alarm Technicians with the installation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
  • Transport tools, equipment, and materials to and from job sites in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Prepare work areas, including setting up ladders, scaffolding, and ensuring proper safety measures are in place.
  • Learn to identify various fire alarm system components and understand their functions.
  • Perform basic tasks such as pulling wire, mounting devices, and labeling cables under direct supervision.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, as well as relevant building codes and industry standards.
  • Document work performed, including time spent, materials used, and any issues encountered.
  • Actively participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and other trades on site.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly
  • Comfortable working at heights and in various environmental conditions
  • Basic familiarity with hand and power tools
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
  • Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a trade helper role (e.g., electrical, construction)
  • Knowledge of basic electrical principles or wiring
  • Completion of a pre-apprenticeship program in a related trade
  • Certifications such as WHMIS, Working at Heights, or elevated work platform training
