Your work will involve responding to a wide range of incidents, from structural fires and medical emergencies to hazardous material spills and technical rescues. Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and safely to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, and other calls for service.
  • Operate and maintain firefighting apparatus, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in extensive physical and academic training programs to develop and maintain proficiency in firefighting techniques, emergency medical services, and rescue operations.
  • Perform fire suppression, ventilation, search and rescue, and overhaul operations.
  • Administer emergency medical care as a first responder, providing initial assessment and stabilization.
  • Conduct fire prevention inspections and public education programs within the community.
  • Maintain fire station, equipment, and grounds in a clean and operational condition.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in drills, simulations, and continuous training to enhance skills and readiness.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve incident objectives and ensure scene safety.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening
  • Exceptional physical fitness and stamina to perform strenuous duties under adverse conditions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in high-pressure situations
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service and safety
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Problem-solving capabilities under duress

Preferred Qualifications

  • EMT Basic or Paramedic certification
  • Prior experience in a physically demanding role or volunteer emergency services
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, or a related field
  • Familiarity with the Paducah area geography
  • CPR and First Aid certification
