As a Fitness Centre Attendant, you will be the welcoming face of our centre, assisting members, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the facility operates smoothly. Your day-to-day will involve a variety of tasks designed to keep our centre running efficiently and our members happy. You’ll be responsible for greeting members with a friendly smile, providing tours to prospective members, and answering questions about our services and programs. Beyond the front-facing interactions, you will also be integral to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of all fitness areas and equipment, ensuring everything is in top working order. This includes sanitizing machines, organizing weights, and conducting regular facility checks. Key Responsibilities
- Greet members and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service.
- Perform regular cleaning and sanitization of all fitness equipment and areas.
- Monitor the fitness floor to ensure member safety and proper equipment usage.
- Assist members with equipment orientation and answer general fitness inquiries.
- Organize and maintain gym amenities, including towels, weights, and accessories.
- Conduct facility walkthroughs to identify and report any maintenance or safety issues.
- Process member check-ins and assist with membership inquiries.
- Provide information about fitness centre programs, classes, and services.
- Handle member feedback and resolve minor issues professionally or escalate as needed.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and operational policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of fitness equipment and gym etiquette
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proactive attitude and strong work ethic
- Reliability and punctuality
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 25 lbs), and bend frequently
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Previous experience in a customer service role
- Fluency in French and English (bilingualism is an asset in New Brunswick)
