Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company's vehicle fleet, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive vehicle maintenance programs, including preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
- Manage vehicle procurement, registration, insurance, and eventual disposal in compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Coordinate and optimize staff scheduling for drivers and maintenance technicians, ensuring adequate coverage and adherence to working time directives.
- Monitor fleet performance metrics, fuel consumption, and operational costs, identifying areas for efficiency improvements and cost reduction.
- Ensure all fleet operations comply with relevant road safety, environmental, and transportation regulations (e.g., DVSA, working time rules).
- Manage relationships with external suppliers, garages, and service providers for parts, maintenance, and vehicle services.
- Implement and enforce health and safety procedures for fleet operations and vehicle handling.
- Conduct regular fleet audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Provide leadership, training, and performance management for fleet personnel.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, repairs, fuel logs, and driver documentation.
- Prepare and manage the fleet operational budget.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in fleet management, including vehicle maintenance and operational logistics.
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team.
- In-depth knowledge of UK transport regulations, health and safety standards, and environmental compliance.
