Job Description

A key aspect of this dynamic position involves the daily, proactive monitoring of our entire fleet through advanced telematics platforms. You will skillfully identify and address issues such as unauthorized vehicle use, excessive idling, harsh braking, and speeding, implementing timely corrective actions and providing constructive feedback to drivers to improve their performance and adherence to standards. Proactive management of vehicle servicing and inspections will fall squarely under your purview, ensuring all vehicles are not only roadworthy but also fully compliant with stringent regulatory standards, including routine MOTs and scheduled service intervals, thereby minimizing crucial downtime and maximizing valuable asset utilization.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations and strategic management of the company's vehicle fleet.
- Utilize advanced vehicle tracking systems (telematics) to monitor fleet movements, driver behaviour, and operational efficiency in real-time.
- Analyze tracking data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential issues such as unauthorized stops, harsh driving, and excessive idling.
- Conduct regular driver briefings, coaching, and provide constructive feedback based on tracking data to improve performance, safety, and compliance.
- Manage and schedule all vehicle maintenance, ensuring timely servicing, repairs, MOT inspections, and compliance with statutory requirements to minimize downtime.
- Investigate vehicle incidents and accidents thoroughly, completing detailed reports and recommending preventative actions to enhance fleet safety.
- Ensure all fleet operations comply with local and national transportation regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement strategies for optimal fuel efficiency, cost reduction, and environmental sustainability across the entire fleet.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of vehicle history, maintenance logs, fuel consumption, driver logs, and other relevant documentation.
- Coordinate with procurement for vehicle acquisitions, disposals, and essential equipment upgrades.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of drivers, fostering a positive, productive, and safety-conscious work environment.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in fleet management or a similar supervisory role.
- Strong proficiency in using vehicle tracking systems (telematics software) and interpreting data.
- Excellent understanding of road transport regulations, compliance, and driver hour rules (e.g., EU/UK working time directive).
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data, generate reports, and make data-driven decisions.
- Exceptional leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting and administration.
- Valid UK Driving License with a clean record.

- Relevant professional certification (e.g., Certificate of Professional Competence – CPC in Road Haulage).
