Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Floor Technician to join our dedicated facilities management team in Milliken, Toronto. This is a critical role responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal, safety, and longevity of various flooring surfaces within our clients’ commercial and institutional properties. As an experienced professional, you will bring a deep understanding of advanced floor care techniques, operate specialized equipment with precision, and uphold our uncompromising standards of quality.

You will be responsible for a wide array of tasks, from routine cleaning to intensive restoration, working with diverse flooring materials suchating as tile, laminate, hardwood, concrete, and carpet. Key Responsibilities
- Execute advanced floor care procedures including stripping, waxing, buffing, polishing, and sealing various hard surface floors (VCT, linoleum, ceramic, concrete).
- Perform comprehensive carpet care, including shampooing, spot cleaning, extraction, and vacuuming.
- Operate and maintain a variety of floor care equipment such as auto scrubbers, high-speed buffers, carpet extractors, and vacuums.
- Inspect floors regularly to identify areas requiring attention, preventative maintenance, or repair.
- Mix and apply cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer specifications and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Manage and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting needs to management.
- Respond promptly to special cleaning requests or emergency spills.
- Train and mentor junior staff on proper floor care techniques and safety protocols when required.
- Document work performed and maintain accurate records as per company policy.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in commercial or institutional floor care.
- Proven expertise in operating various floor care machines (e.g., auto scrubbers, buffers, extractors).
- Thorough knowledge of different flooring types and appropriate cleaning methods and chemicals.
- Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for cleaning products.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid G-class driver's license and a clean driving record (may be required for some assignments).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in floor care or related janitorial services.
- Experience with specialized floor finishes and restoration techniques.
- Familiarity with green cleaning practices and eco-friendly products.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor equipment troubleshooting.
