Hiring.zycto is seeking a motivated and eager Flooring Contractor Apprentice to join our growing construction team in Toronto. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced flooring contractors with the preparation of work sites, including demolition, subfloor preparation, and material organization.
  • Learn and apply various flooring installation techniques for hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile, and carpet under direct supervision.
  • Safely use and maintain hand and power tools common in flooring installation.
  • Accurately measure, cut, and fit flooring materials according to project specifications.
  • Handle and transport materials efficiently and safely on job sites.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project progress and potential issues.
  • Participate actively in all training sessions and demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and improve skills.

Required Skills

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Excellent work ethic and reliability.
  • Basic understanding of measurements and angles.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Basic communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in construction, general labor, or a related trade (even minor experience is a plus).
  • Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Basic knowledge of construction site safety procedures.
  • Enrollment or completion of a pre-apprenticeship program.
