Key Responsibilities
- Assist with forest inventory and data collection, including timber cruising, tree measurements, and plot establishment.
- Participate in reforestation activities, including tree planting, site preparation, and seedling care.
- Support forest health monitoring programs, identifying and reporting signs of disease, insect infestation, or other environmental stresses.
- Operate and maintain basic forestry equipment and tools safely and effectively.
- Assist with mapping and GPS data collection in the field.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Maintain accurate field notes and contribute to data entry and report preparation.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors on various field projects.
- Perform general labor tasks as required to support forestry operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively outdoors in various weather conditions and challenging terrain.
- Strong physical fitness and stamina.
- Basic knowledge of plant identification (trees, shrubs) or willingness to learn.
- Excellent work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable transportation to Okotoks area.
