Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled, reliable, and safety-conscious Forklift Loader to bolster our dedicated night rotation team at our Bournville, Birmingham facility. This full-time position is not merely about moving goods; it’s a critical function that underpins our entire logistical operation, ensuring the seamless flow of products from our warehouse to customers and distribution hubs across the region, all while the city sleeps. As a vital member of our night shift, you will be entrusted with a diverse range of responsibilities that demand acute attention to detail and unwavering adherence to safety protocols. Your primary duties will involve the expert operation of various forklifts, potentially including counterbalance and reach trucks, to load and unload a continuous stream of incoming and outgoing delivery vehicles. This includes meticulously checking consignments against manifests, identifying and reporting any discrepancies or damages immediately. Beyond vehicle movements, you will be responsible for the strategic stacking, retrieving, and organizing of a wide array of products within our extensive warehouse, ensuring optimal space utilisation and easy accessibility for subsequent shifts. This requires not only technical proficiency but also excellent spatial awareness and problem-solving skills to navigate a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.

You will conduct thorough pre-operation checks on all assigned equipment, promptly reporting any mechanical issues to prevent downtime and ensure maximum operational safety. Key Responsibilities
- Operate counterbalance and/or reach forklifts safely and efficiently during night shifts.
- Load and unload goods from delivery vehicles, ensuring accuracy and damage-free handling.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas within the warehouse.
- Stack and organize products efficiently, optimizing warehouse space and accessibility.
- Perform routine pre-operation checks on forklifts and report any defects or maintenance requirements.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate records of goods moved.
- Collaborate effectively with the night shift team to achieve operational targets.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist with other general warehouse duties as required.
Required Skills
- Valid Forklift Operator license (Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck)
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or logistics environment
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and practices
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent spatial awareness and attention to detail
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for night shifts
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 20kg) and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS)
- Familiarity with various types of goods handling and storage techniques
- First Aid certification
- Previous experience working night shifts
