As our Freight Forwarder, you will take ownership of the end-to-end management of ocean and air freight shipments, from initial booking and strategic planning to meticulous documentation, customs clearance, and final delivery to our clients. Your expertise in international shipping procedures, Incoterms, and intricate customs compliance will be critical in mitigating risks, preventing delays, and ensuring seamless, compliant operations. You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for a broad range of clients, providing expert advice, proactive real-time updates, and swift, effective resolutions to any logistical challenges that may arise. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of international freight shipments (air, ocean, road) from booking to delivery, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Prepare, process, and accurately manage all necessary shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, customs entries, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
  • Liaise directly with clients to understand their specific shipping requirements, provide competitive quotes, offer expert advice on optimal routes and regulations, and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers, agents, and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and ensure optimal service levels and transit times.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with customs brokers for efficient customs clearance and ensure strict compliance with all relevant import/export regulations and tariffs.
  • Monitor shipment status proactively, communicate real-time updates to clients, and resolve any operational issues or delays promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring data integrity within our freight management systems and databases.
  • Process invoices, manage costs associated with shipments, and ensure profitability for each managed consignment.
  • Stay continuously informed about international trade policies, evolving customs regulations, and broader industry trends to provide informed solutions.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in freight forwarding, specifically with international (air and ocean) shipments.
  • In-depth knowledge of international shipping procedures, Incoterms, and global customs regulations.
  • Proven experience in preparing and managing comprehensive shipping documentation with high accuracy.
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent organisational abilities with a meticulous attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Proficiency in freight management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently, manage a demanding workload, and collaborate effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification or certification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or International Trade.
  • Experience with dangerous goods regulations (IMDG, IATA DGR) and associated documentation.
  • Familiarity with specific regional customs requirements (e.g., EU, US, APAC) and trade agreements.
  • Multilingual abilities, particularly in a key European or Asian trade language, would be an advantage.
