Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete cycle of international freight movements (Air, Sea, Road) from booking to delivery.
  • Prepare, check, and process all necessary shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, customs entries, and dangerous goods declarations.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, carriers, overseas agents, and customs authorities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Negotiate freight rates with carriers and book cargo space efficiently.
  • Track and trace shipments proactively, providing regular updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure full compliance with international trade regulations, customs procedures, and company policies.
  • Resolve shipping discrepancies, delays, and other issues promptly and professionally.
  • Manage costing, invoicing, and ensure accurate billing for all services rendered.
  • Provide expert advice to clients on shipping options, regulations, and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records and utilize freight forwarding software for operational tasks.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a Freight Forwarder in an international setting.
  • Strong understanding of international shipping regulations, Incoterms, and customs procedures.
  • Proficiency in freight forwarding software (e.g., CargoWise, Destin8, CNS Compass).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail in documentation.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., BIFA training, Dangerous Goods by Air/Sea).
  • Degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific trade lanes or commodities (e.g., EU, Far East, perishables).
  • Additional language skills relevant to international trade.
  • Experience with import and export customs declarations software.
