Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and welcome all guests upon arrival and departure, creating a positive first impression.
  • Perform efficient check-ins and check-outs, processing payments accurately and securely.
  • Manage room reservations, modifications, and cancellations with precision using the hotel's PMS.
  • Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly, professionally, and empathetically, ensuring guest satisfaction and resolution.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and presentable reception area at all times, reflecting the hotel's standards.
  • Provide local information, directions, and personalised recommendations for dining, attractions, and transport in London.
  • Operate the hotel's switchboard, directing calls and taking messages accurately and efficiently.
  • Collaborate effectively with other hotel departments (housekeeping, concierge, F&B, maintenance) to ensure seamless guest service and operational harmony.
  • Handle cash, credit card transactions, foreign currency exchange, and maintain accurate daily financial reports and logs.
  • Ensure security protocols are followed diligently, and maintain guest confidentiality and privacy at all times.

Required Skills

  • Previous experience (at least 1 year) in a hotel reception or high-volume customer service role, preferably within hospitality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with a clear and professional telephone manner.
  • Proficiency in using hotel management systems (e.g., Opera, Fidelio, or similar PMS software).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, approachable, and guest-oriented demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, even under pressure.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays, as per operational needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluency in additional languages is a significant advantage, particularly European or Asian languages.
  • A diploma or certificate in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
  • Experience with upsell techniques and confidently promoting hotel services and amenities.
  • In-depth knowledge of local attractions, events, and transport links in London, particularly the Lewisham borough.
