Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, processing check-ins and check-outs efficiently and accurately.
  • Manage and update reservation systems, including processing modifications, cancellations, and special requests.
  • Address guest inquiries, provide accurate information about hotel services, facilities, and local attractions/events.
  • Handle all financial transactions, including cash, credit card payments, and foreign currency exchange, while maintaining a balanced cash drawer.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest complaints and concerns, striving to resolve issues to guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting front desk and lobby area at all times.
  • Collaborate effectively with housekeeping, maintenance, and other departments to ensure seamless guest service.
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail, messages, and faxes.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of guest information and hotel data.
  • Assist with other administrative duties as required to support hotel operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven customer service experience, preferably in a guest-facing role.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., MS Office, email).
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Front Desk Agent in a hotel or similar hospitality setting.
  • Familiarity with hotel property management systems (PMS) like Opera, RoomMaster, or other.
  • Knowledge of local Portland attractions, dining, and transportation options.
  • Ability to communicate in multiple languages (e.g., French, Spanish) is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in hospitality is a bonus.
