Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Fund Accountant to join our growing team in Regina. This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to manage the financial operations of various investment funds, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. As a Fund Accountant, you will be instrumental in the daily, weekly, and monthly accounting cycles for our diverse range of funds. You will be responsible for maintaining precise accounting records, preparing financial statements, and reconciling various accounts. This position requires a strong understanding of investment instruments, generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and regulatory requirements within the financial services industry. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily accounting and administration for a portfolio of investment funds, including NAV calculation, trade processing, and cash management.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, footnotes, and supporting schedules in accordance with GAAP and IFRS.
  • Perform reconciliation of cash, positions, and trades with prime brokers, custodians, and counterparties.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, journal entries, and financial analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, assisting with audit requests and regulatory filings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (portfolio management, compliance) and external partners (auditors, custodians).
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in fund accounting operations.
  • Prepare investor statements, capital calls, and distribution notices.
  • Maintain detailed working papers and documentation for all accounting entries and financial reports.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in fund accounting or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation or actively pursuing.
  • Experience with fund accounting software (e.g., Geneva, Advent, Yardi).
  • Familiarity with various investment instruments (equities, fixed income, derivatives).
  • Knowledge of Canadian regulatory environment for investment funds.
