Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a skilled and passionate Furniture Maker with expertise in woodworking to join our dynamic team in Heritage Park, Calgary. As a Furniture Maker, you will be instrumental in every stage of the production process, from interpreting design blueprints and selecting premium raw materials to precision cutting, assembly, finishing, and quality control. Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret detailed design blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to plan project execution.
  • Select appropriate wood species and materials, ensuring quality, grain, and structural integrity.
  • Perform precise measurement, cutting, shaping, and sanding of wood components using hand tools and power machinery (e.g., table saws, jointers, planers, routers).
  • Execute various joinery techniques, including dovetails, mortise and tenon, dowel, and biscuit joints, to ensure structural soundness and aesthetic appeal.
  • Assemble furniture components with accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring alignment and stability.
  • Apply various finishes such as stains, lacquers, oils, and waxes, achieving desired aesthetic and protective qualities.
  • Conduct thorough quality checks at each stage of production to ensure superior craftsmanship and adherence to design specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment, adhering to all safety protocols and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Collaborate with design teams and clients to understand project requirements and provide expert input on material selection and construction methods.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the construction process, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Expertise in operating a wide range of woodworking machinery (table saws, band saws, planers, jointers, routers, sanders).
  • Strong knowledge of various joinery methods and their applications.
  • Skilled in hand tool usage for precision work and detailing.
  • Comprehensive understanding of wood characteristics, properties, and appropriate usage.
  • Ability to apply various finishing techniques (staining, varnishing, lacquering).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.

Preferred Qualifications
