Key Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of gardening and grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, strimming, edging, pruning, weeding, planting, and mulching.
- Maintain shrubs, trees, and floral displays to a high standard, ensuring plant health and aesthetic appeal.
- Operate and maintain various gardening machinery and tools safely and efficiently (e.g., mowers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, chainsaws).
- Monitor grounds for pests, diseases, and general health, applying appropriate treatments as necessary.
- Implement irrigation schedules and watering techniques to ensure optimal plant hydration.
- Conduct general site tidiness, litter picking, and waste removal to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Assist with landscaping projects, including soft landscaping installations and seasonal planting schemes.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, site issues, or concerns promptly to the supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in general gardening and grounds maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of plant care, horticulture, and seasonal gardening tasks.
- Ability to safely and competently operate various gardening machinery and hand tools.
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of presentation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures related to grounds work.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture or an equivalent qualification.
- PA1/PA6 spraying certificates (desirable but not essential).
- Full UK driving licence (essential for roles requiring travel between sites).
- Experience in soft landscaping installation.
- First Aid certification.
