Hiring.zycto is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Gardener – Landscaping & Grounds Care professional to join our thriving team in Ratho, Edinburgh. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general garden maintenance, including mowing, strimming, weeding, watering, feeding, pruning, and hedge cutting.
- Undertake planting of trees, shrubs, flowers, and bulbs according to design specifications and seasonal requirements.
- Operate and maintain a range of horticultural machinery and tools safely and efficiently, including mowers, strimmers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers.
- Monitor plant health, identifying and treating pests, diseases, and nutritional deficiencies.
- Carry out basic hard landscaping tasks such as path edging, minor repairs to paved areas, and general site tidiness.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, adhering to health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist with the implementation of new landscape designs and renovation projects.
- Manage waste removal and composting effectively, promoting sustainable practices.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including vehicles and equipment.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of professional gardening or grounds care experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge of plant identification, cultivation, and care.
- Proficiency in operating a variety of gardening machinery and hand tools.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Horticultural qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Horticulture).
- PA1/PA6 spraying certificates (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience in operating ride-on mowers or other specialist landscaping equipment.
- Basic knowledge of irrigation systems.
- First Aid at Work certification.
