Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting skilled tradespeople (e.g., bricklayers, carpenters, plasterers) with various tasks as directed.
  • Loading, unloading, and transporting materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently across the site.
  • Preparing construction sites by cleaning, clearing debris, and ensuring proper setup before and after work.
  • Operating basic hand and power tools under supervision, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Digging trenches, compacting earth, and mixing concrete/mortar as required for project specifications.
  • Erecting and dismantling temporary structures such as scaffolding, barriers, and site hoardings (under guidance).
  • Adhering strictly to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and site-specific rules at all times.
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area to promote a safe working environment.
  • Performing general errands and providing support to the site management team.
  • Supporting the overall construction process to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to high standards.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding manual labour for extended periods.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety procedures and regulations.
  • Reliable, punctual, and possessing a strong work ethic.
  • Basic understanding of construction site operations and terminology.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Valid CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
  • Previous experience working on a busy construction site.
  • Basic knowledge of common construction tools and equipment.
  • Full UK driving licence with access to own transport.
