As a Driller Helper, you will work alongside experienced drillers, assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of drilling equipment on various project sites. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Driller with the setup, operation, and dismantling of drilling rigs and related equipment.
- Handle, retrieve, and store drilling tools, core barrels, and sampling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials, supplies, and equipment from vehicles.
- Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance on drilling equipment under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organized work site, ensuring all safety procedures are followed.
- Assist in the collection and labeling of soil and rock samples.
- Operate support equipment such as pumps, generators, and vehicles.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors on site.
- Participate in all provided training programs and safety briefings.
Required Skills
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs regularly).
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn about drilling equipment.
- Excellent work ethic and a proactive attitude towards tasks.
- Commitment to safety and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Valid G Class Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in a physically demanding role (e.g., construction, labour, landscaping).
- Basic understanding of tools and machinery.
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- WHMIS certification (or willingness to obtain).
